Douglas F. Smiley, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Smiley received his B.A. and M.D. degrees from Duke University. His surgical training was at the University of Southern California, where he is a Clinical Professory of Surgery. He is Board Certified in general and colon-rectal surgery. For many years he practiced general and colon-rectal surgery at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles.

He now limits himself to Anal-rectal surgery including, Trans Anal Excision of benign and malignant tumors; Hemorrhoidectomy, either open, closed, or with the PPH depending on indications; excision of Rectal Prolapse; Anal Sphincter repair; Anal Fistula, Anal Fissures and manifestations of Anal Crohn’s Disease; and other inflammatory bowel disease.

His office practice includes sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, injection treatments, or banding of internal hemorrhoids, or rectal mucosal prolapse, and treatment of pruritus ani and anal fissures. He probably has more experience in treating Anal-rectal disease than any other active surgeon in Southern California.
